Children's Health Tips
Getting Your Children to Eat Right
We receive a considerable amount of email on the
subject of kids eating habits. You can imagine that for
many it's a daunting getting kids to eat right. Here are
a few pointers for you to try.
- Stat your child's day with a good breakfast
- Hot cereal is an excellent alternative to
oversweet breakfasts
- Purchase snacks that are low in fat, sugar, and
salt.
- Fresh fruit, unbuttered popcorn, whole grain
muffins, juice, milk, and yogurt are tasty,
nutritious foods that appeal to kids. Crackers with
small amounts of peanut butter or cheese are great
break time treats.
- Replace fried foods with bake or broiled meals
- Instead of ordering pepperoni and sausage pizza,
order a pizza with mushrooms, onions or peppers.
- Avoid salads with mayonnaise. Replace with
fruits and vegetable salads
- Void serving foods with bacon bits, croutons,
rich salad dressings, and fried noodles.
- Don't salt food
- Serve low-fat milk, fruit juice, or plain water
instead of malts, milk shakes or soft drinks.
- Avoid high-fat, calorie-rich pastries and
desserts
